The City of Van Meter is a chartered city with a Mayor-Council/Administrator form of government. The Mayor and five City Council members are elected at-large and each serves alternating four-year terms.
The professional staff is headed by the City Administrator and a talented team of both full and part-time employees, which includes the City Clerk, Public Works Director, Assistant Public Works Director, Library Director, Parks and Recreation Coordinator, and dedicated volunteers.

Van Meter Park and Rec Coordinator
The City of Van
Meter is seeking applicants for the position of a part-time Parks and Rec
Coordinator. Qualified applicants should possess an education or experience in Recreation, Leisure Services, Sports
Management, Marketing, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related
field.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter, collegial, and able to demonstrate strong leadership skills. The position will require both strong organizational and administrative abilities as well as a willingness to be very hands on with the maintenance, upkeep, improvement, and manicuring of the City’s recreation facilities.
Evenings and weekends will be required. Starting salary is $24,000 per year; no additional benefits. This position will be a temporary, part-time position with a contract term from July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024.
